This is the highest elevation point in Dallas with its highest point standing at a whopping 700 feet above the ground level. As you would expect, Big Cedar trail features many loops, and each is marked according to skill level. The trails are open to the public at the areas of the land that belongs to the Mountain Creek Church. However, you must have a waiver on the file with the church or trail steward before you can ride here. Located at 5950 Eagle Ford Drive, Big Cedar is open from dawn to dusk.

Prayer Mountain is nothing compared to Moab, Horeb, or Sinai but at 700 feet, you will have the challenge you need to conquer. It has many loops marked according to the skill level needed.

Big Cedar Wilderness Trails are located southeast of the city near Duncanville on 5950 Eagle Ford Drive. The land reportedly belongs to Mountain Creek Church and are open to the public (both pedestrians and bikers).

3. Boulder Park

Boulder Park is known for its excellent elevations with climbs that will work your leg, lots of woods, and some twists with a few fast areas to keep you moving. There are two different loops marked for different skill levels. The first one is for the more-experienced riders while the second bypass the harder parts – making it a better suit for beginners. Also located in the southern part of Dallas, Boulder Park sits at 6600 Pastor Bailey Drive – very close to Duncanville and just about 15 minutes from Joe Pool Lake. It is open from 6:00am to 11:00pm.

The most challenging areas of the trail can be avoided and bypassed as much as possible for those who are quite not ready. For ease of use, the trail contains simple trail signs. The red sign means the trails are good only for more advanced riders while the blue sign means the trail is meant for beginners. Located at 703 NW Green Oaks Blvd. in Arlington, the River Legacy Parks Mountain Bike Trail is open to vehicular traffic only from 5:00 am to 10:00 pm daily. If you are on foot, you can still assess the park until midnight.

It has the longest twisty meanders and a good training ground for beginners. You will be on a 10-mile cross-country riding spree with a few challenges if you are not ready for the challenges, their alternative routes to evade the challenges too. These unofficial routes allow you to bypass and take shorter easier versions of the trail. River Legacy Park has many trail signs. To keep up with the routes, you will need to use them obediently. Advanced and experienced riders use the Red trails while beginners use blue trails. This place is opened to the public from as early as 5 a.m and closes at 10 p.m. on a daily basis. Pedestrians are not allowed to enter the park until after midnight.

5. Rowlett Creek Preserve

Located at 2525, Castle Road in Garland, the Bowlett Creek Preserve is open from 6:00 am to midnight every day.
